What the Worms Trust does

The Worms Trust exists to provide training and support for those in gospel ministry and those considering that ministry in the future.

The old story in question ...

A miserable sceptic in India met a humble, local Christian with all the dark doubts which had poisoned his own mind. His language may have been fluent, and his knowledge varied, and his arguments difficult to answer; but the Christian, after listening patiently to all he had to say, stood up to answer the question - 'How do you know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the Saviour of the world?'

more »Gathering together some dry leaves, and, placing a worm in the midst, he kindled a fire with these leaves. Then waiting until the poor worm was writhing in the flame, he stooped and plucked it from the burning; and turning to the Infidel, said - 'That is what Jesus Christ has done for me!' This was the blessed answer from experience, which, poor and ignorant as he was, he could give to the question - 'Who is this?'

Beloved, I want you all to be able to say - 'This is what He has done for me.' I want you all to understand what it is to be 'a brand plucked from the burning' - to feel how lost and helpless is your condition, even like that little worm, in your ruin; and that Christ has met with you - that Christ's great love has drawn you - Christ's great power reached you and made you free.

Doctrinal Basis

When the Worms Trust was created, it adopted as it's founding doctrinal basis the then-current, original doctrinal basis of UCCF. UCCF have since modernised the language of their doctrinal basis, in an effort to improve clarity, while maintaining the same meaning.
